Brittany paddling the new Imagine Paddle Surf Crossover 11' at Soda Lake on 11/26/16. What a nice board!
The "Board Room" at Surf'SUP Colorado's SUP Shop. So many boards, so little time to paddle.
One by one, the lakes have frozen over. Even safe, open water in the rivers is getting hard to find and is it ever cold. Boards, paddles, and pfds are mostly put away for a couple of months. The good news is we live in Colorado which means we can grab a different kind of board and hit the slopes for some ride time in the mountains. It's also a good time to think about how last year's SUP season went and what you would like to do SUP-wise in 2017. Is a trip to the ocean to try some SUP surfing or adventure paddling on your schedule? Perhaps you want to try a SUP float trip through Moab or a paddle through a mangrove swamp. How about trying a SUP race event, a tour of Grand Lake or Dillon Reservoir, or even some SUP whitewater at one of the growing number of white water parks in Colorado. Stop in at the SUP Shop to talk story about your past adventures and your future plans. We can help you get ready for your next trip or the upcoming 2017 SUP season.
Don't forget to take care of yourself and your body during the off-season. Take a short break from the demands of the somewhat repetitive SUP movement and re-balance your body so that you're ready to rip when the ice comes off Big Soda Lake. Get to the pool to work on your swimming. Improve your balance with yoga. We love the Indo Board for off-season workouts. We always have one set up at the SUP Shop our own use and for you to try.
Do something different physically and mentally every day to re-fresh and re-new your inner and outer being. Be thankful to God for the abundance you have and what you can do. Don't focus on what you think you lack and what you can't do. Remember to always share the Aloha spirit with your family, friends, co-workers, and even with the guy who just cut in front of you in a endlessly long lift line.
Don't just dream about a SUP trip, plan it and make it happen. We are going to Australia for two weeks in February. It's been way too long since we caught our last waves at Hanalei Bay, Kauai. Would you like to join us in Costa Rica this Spring for a week of SUP surfing and adventure? Let us know if you are interested as we are making plans now. And we are only a 16 hour non-stop drive to San Onofre if the urge for some wave time simply becomes unbearable. We might even hang a "gone surfing" sign in the SUP Shop window and join you.
