This week’s schedule features: RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!
The Gravel Pond has been closed again due to flooding!
Aurora Reservoir Is Closed 5/29-5/31 for the Rocky Mountain Airshow!
The continual rain (24 out of 26 days in May) has definitely impacted our schedule. Chatfield State Park has closed access to the Swim Beach and the Gravel Pond area. With the Aurora Reservoir closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the Airshow we need a drier week so that Chatfield can reopen the Gravel Pond.
• Tuesday -Friday, 5/26-5/29: SUP Lessons and Rentals by appointment, FLOODING AND WEATHER PERMITTING.
• Saturday, 5/30: 9-5, SUP Lessons and Rentals at Gravel Pond, FLOODING AND WEATHER PERMITTING.
• Sunday, 5/24: 9-5, SUP Lessons and Rentals at Gravel Pond, FLOODING AND WEATHER PERMITTING.
BECAUSE OF THE FLOODING AND WEATHER PLEASE CONFIRM ALL RESERVATIONS BEFORE YOUR ACTIVITY.
The sun will shine again, someday.
PLAN B FOR RENTALS: Pick up a SUP or two at the Shop and go to Soda Lake at Bear Creek Lake Park. Although we can not operate commercially at this lake, it is very close to the Shop and you are allowed to bring your own or rented paddle gear. The water quality is still very good this time of year. Until the Park reopens the Gravel Pond Soda Lake is probably the best alternative.
Our Weekly SUP Shop Schedule
Spring SUP Shop Hours: Thursday-Saturday 10:00-5:00. Sunday 12:00-5:00.
As always we can usually meet you at the Shop at other times to show you all the new SUP gear or just to talk story. Please call for an appointment. 720-635-7873
Are you ready to paddle!
The first race of the Surf'SUP Colorado "Live Aloha SUP" 2015 Race Series was Saturday, May 9th, at Aurora Reservoir. It was a bit chilly. However, we built a warm fire in the fireplace and the true watermen and waterwomen went out to race. Don’t miss the next event, we promise it will be warmer. Race # 2 is on Sunday, July 19th. More details on Facebook at:
Pick Up Rentals Now Available, Including River SUP Boards
The recent snow/rain storms has made it challenging to get out and paddle. However, the storms have produced crucial moisture needed to feed run-off for this year’s River SUP season. The Clear Creek drainage received tons of moisture which means The Golden Games should be awesome. Come paddle with Alex Mauer on Friday in the Golden Whitewater Park. He’ll have demo boards to ride and can show you how much fun River SUP can be.
We’ll also be at Soda Lake on Friday, May 15th for the flatwater events with board demos. And we’ll be in Golden on Saturday and Sunday for the SUP white water events, where we will also be demoing river boards by GLIDE, BIC, and NRS. Come check it out. Be sure to put it on your calendar, May 15-17.
Pick up rentals are now available at the SUP Shop. Call 720-635-7873 to reserve a SUP for an early Spring outing. Although the air temperature is warm, the water is still cold. Please be properly equipped. Recommended for experienced paddlers.
Action from last year’s The Golden Games
The SUP Shop is Open now for those of you who can’t wait any longer for a SUP fix.
Soda Lake, Aurora Reservoir, and Chatfield are all open for Stand Up Paddleboarding along with a number of other local bodies of water. We have booties and gloves to keep your fingers and toes warm and other cold water gear for those looking for possibly a more immersive SUP experience. River season is fast approaching. Gear up now.
The Shop is indeed open regular hours again. We have transitioned to our new POS system. And the new system is much better and checkout is much faster. We are still trying to find room for all the new, great inventory. Our first order of EARTH SUP boards arrived this week and they are beautiful. We will post pictures and a full review as soon as we have an opportunity to take them out for a paddle. We have new CREED SUP boards in the shop as well. If you are looking for a deal on a used SUP you can help us out by taking one of the few remaining used SUP boards from last year’s rental quiver off our hands. We are in a giving mood, so come see what you can talk us out of.
In other news, our new website is still a few weeks away from launching, but it will be awesome. Our additional staff has already helped us to refresh our Facebook presence. Alex is working hard organizing the Surf’SUP Colorado Race Series present by BIC SUP to be held at Aurora Reservoir on May 9, July 19 and August 29. Save these dates. To register for the first race click HERE. We are really excited about being the major sponsor of one of the premier flatwater race series in Colorado. It will be a fun event for those new to SUP and to seasoned SUP racers alike. We are still working on our clinic schedule that will help you perfect your paddle stroke, safely introduce you to river running, wave riding sessions, and lots more along with our normal on water schedule of lessons, rentals, SUP camps, group events and fitness and yoga classes.

Mahalo to you all for such a great 2014 Stand Up Paddleboard season.
You guys and gals are awesome!
We had over 3,000 client sessions in 2014 and the SUP Shop had a fantastic first full year of business. Thank you all so very much. And to think we started 4 years ago with 165 client sessions and 1 board sold working out of our garage with our little homemade SUP trailer. We are very blessed to be a part of the Stand Up Paddleboard scene here in Colorado and to participate in the growth of such an incredibly enjoyable water sport.
